Our numbers show that when someone receives their first donation to their Fundraising Page, it’s a BIG DEAL. In fact, the earlier someone gets their first donation, the more they go on to raise throughout the year, this is in comparison to those that give 2-3 months later. And when you think about it, it makes complete sense – firsts are pretty important… First step, first goal, first job, first car. Achieving something for the first time is awesome and it sparks a chain reaction to do more. That’s what getting their first donation is like for Giving Center! It builds confidence and inspires us to continue pushing our fundraising projects.
When you make your first donation, it not only inspires you but gives you a confidence boost that enables you to tell family and friends.

WHY WE OBSESS ABOUT THE FIRST DONATION
Helping people get their first donation as early as possible is something we obsess about here at Giving Center. We’ve even got a fancy name for it internally – activation rate, which is basically the percentage of all Fundraising Pages that have received at least one donation. For example, if you’ve got 10 Fundraising Pages for an event, and 9 of them have a received a donation (of any amount) then you’ve achieved an activation rate of 90%.
By having just one donation enables others to donate too! If you’d like more information on how to donate with Giving Center please contact us here or give us a call toll free at 888-228-7320 today.

Interestingly, research has indicated that the people who spend the most time thinking about charitable giving are actually the least likely to give. Unlike impulsive spending, impulsively giving can bring wonderful benefits to your mind, body, and community. If you’re nervous about starting with cash donations, get your feet wet by giving away some items around your home that you don’t want anymore, such as toys, collectibles, computers, or furniture. Then, when you’re in a position to give financially, take that step – you’re not only benefiting the well-being of those you give to, you’re benefiting your own as well.
